Buyer's Remorse #31 - Bianca Amor and The Deathly Hoarders

Hey Blogamaniacs!

Whatcha gonna do when a stack of Xbox games falls over and crushes you, dude! You better say your prayers and take your vitamins if you wanna feel the power of Tysonmania in your veins, brother!

It's that time again where I've bought too many games and I need to dump all the pictures of them onto this blog before I lose track of them! Tommy and I are planning to excrete a new episode of Two Crude Dudes soon that will cover our exploits at the 2014 Calgary Expo, so I needed to get this pile up here so I could refer to these pickups to avoid talking about them too much on the podcast. The 2014 Expo was amazing, but I won't spoil it here. Basically it was a wet dream for Aliens fans and was also blessed by the presence of the immortal Bruce Campbell. There were many times that I needed to change my shorts from explosive premature fanboy-jactulation. Here's a couple pics to tease some of the awesomeness.

I did pick up a few games while I was there, but not the massive trunk load that I did last year. The games I looked for were priced pretty far out of my range, so I concentrated on meeting celebrities and collecting art. I also ate my share of Vietnamese food, deep dish pizza, and drank new types of beer. The day before the expo, we hit a few Value Villages and I scored some PS1 games and a great find in a complete boxed Donkey Kong Hockey Game & Watch from the 1984 Vs. Series! It's in pretty sexy shape and I can't wait to school Tommy and Jimmy in the 2-player mode. Nintendo Game & Watch units are becoming pretty collectible and finding a minty boxed one at a thrift store is pretty crazy.

These two games I got in Moose Jaw. Now there's nothing good left in that town.
One of the other interesting developments we had back in our home town was that a new department store opened. It's called "Bianca Amor's Discount Sweatshop Asian Liquidation Warehouse Bazaar Superstore of Remarkable Shiny Values" or some shit like that. It's a chain of stores opened by a woman from Calgary who was a CEO at age 16 and opened these warehouse liquidation stores across Canada. They all contain blowout products that she bought from distributors in Asia. It's like a flea market, dollar store, and Giant Tiger all got mutated into one unholy behemoth. Why am I telling you this? They stocked a few cubes of hundreds of recent Xbox 360 games for $9.00 each! Most of the games had the UPC cut off the case, but if you took your time looking, you could even find a few that had not been circumcised by the box cutter.  I also snagged some games from Kijiji and lucked out on a couple cheap collector's sets at GT Boutique.

Future Shop deal! Poor Wii U...

I can't believe the sheer amount of games I picked up in the last few weeks, but I kept running into some really amazing deals at the pawn shops and thrift stores during my travels. It was pretty freakin' hard to contain myself. I also managed to do a decent amount of gaming and I've really enjoyed Tales of The Abyss on 3DS, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Forza Horizon, Split/Second and some of the Xbox Live games that I downloaded during their weekly sales. Fez is damn cool...

I also hooked up with my "dealer" Zach and he passed on some good shit my way. I have no idea when I'm gonna get around to playing Saints Row IV and GTA V, but the guides look great on my shelf!

I used dimes and nickels at a garage sale to get these.

I must find a Gameboy Player now...
Finally a good deal at Value Village! Anyone need an N64? Now I have two...sigh...

This has been a pretty picture heavy blog because of the sheer volume of new items in the collection. Not a bad thing, but the more I acquired, the more I knew it would take a damn novel to explain the stories and deals behind them. Now that they occupy the blog I can tell the tales on the podcast and it will all make sense.

I've been such a generous giver of content to River City Retro lately, that I'm feeling pretty good about myself. I might need to change the name of this place to "Super Robot Retro" or something. Hey look! I also posted a collection video on You Tube too! Is there anything I won't do for our fans?

One of my wedding pictures.

After you finish watching that, you can look at more pictures of games! Here's even more stuff I picked up! I'm out of control! I'm going to build a fortress made only of video games and live inside!

Now I just need Kwanzaa NiGHTS and Hanukkah NiGHTS!

Phew! I think that's everything from the last few weeks! I'm quite proud of all the amazing additions to the addiction...I mean collection....

It's a beautiful time for RCR as spring has finally sprung and the thrift stores and garage sales will be blooming with even more bounty in the coming weeks. Epic Jimmy's Gamecube Quest has been moving along nicely and Tommy took down a few more NES needs recently. I think we should all get together and celebrate as only we can! Here's a pic of what we plan to do:

OOOHH! SCISSOR ME JIMMY!

Okay, I'm done now. I promise.

Later everybody! Keep fit and have fun!

Super Robot Tyson

* DISCLAIMER: Tommy and I are heading to a CWE wrestling show tonight, so there's a good chance that we might just give up on video games and go back to collecting wrestling DVDs again. If that happens, the blog will probably change to "River City Ring Report" or something equally lame...
