Buyer's Remorse #28 - Run For The Border

Welcome back to the Super Robot chronicle known as Buyer's Remorse! Many a game has been bought in the last few weeks and if I don't photograph them and post them on this blog, it's like they don't exist.

My wife and I foolishly decided to highway drive during a dangerous winter storm to get to Grand Forks and Fargo, North Dakota for a short two day shopping trip. It might give you an idea how shitty Canadian winters are when I would drive to fucking North Dakota USA just for fun. The visibility was basically zero as we white knuckled down the highway into the American midwest.

You can tell this photo is fake cause the snowbanks are too small.
The trip was a fun little getaway and we bought crazy American junk food like Peanut Butter Oreos and ate dinner at Paradiso Mexican Diarrhea Bistro. I'm surprised I didn't poop in the hot tub at the illustrious Day's Inn. I love little road trips like this and I was thrilled to get back to the Rock 30 Games stores in North Dakota. I also checked out the American pawn shops and thrift stores too. While I didn't drop a lot of cash on big ticket games, I did find a lot of 3-5 dollar games that were high on my wishlist. Check it out:

Before the road trip happened, I did find a few gems in the city as Future Shop has really been pushing the previously played games lately and I snagged some last generation stuff for under 5 bucks each. The giant Future Shop price stickers they glue on the cases can be a horrible bitch to get off, though.
Sometimes I just drink this and then lick the price stickers off the games.

I'm told that the strange item on the right is called a "book".

I also got a Kijiji tip about some Sega CD games at a pawn shop and headed down and managed to score sealed copies of Space Ace and Ecco as well of some other excellent SCD games. I was also thrilled to snag Ninja Gaiden III on NES for the low price of ten bucks! If you listened to the last episode of the Two Crude Dudes podcast, you would know that I'm always happy to buy NES games that Tommy does not own just to chap his ass.

Sprinkled in this last batch of photos was a pile of cheap games that Tommy was ditching and I decided to take them off his hands. I'm more of a Sega guy than him, so I snatched up the boxed Genesis games and I'm also a sucker for any PS1 and NES. He gave me the super RCR discount price on the lot too.

The only other major developments lately were that our good buddy Jimmy has caught the game collecting bug a bit more and is really jumping on the Gamecube train! You can follow him on Twitter at @Epic_Jimmy. He's cool like a fool in a swimming p-p-p-pool! Wow, what a great audience!
Tyson and Jimmy prepare to hit the pawn shops...
I'd like to close out this episode of "Game Hoarding: Buried Alive" with my thoughts on game chasing karma: Recently I picked up a nice looking $10 Sega Saturn, FFVII, FFVIII, and a Gamecube game for Jimmy. He also found me a cool DVD. I also picked up a NES game for Tommy. Then Tommy found me an amazing PS1 score. He also sold me those cheap games and I gave him a cheap 360 game. We've also given each other some games when we've upgraded to boxed copies and passed the loose cart on to a friend. I feel like we are starting to really whip up some game collecting karma and if we keep the sharing ways alive, we will continue to be imbued with luck. I guess I need to stop buying all the NES games that Tommy needs, eh?

Later dude-bros!
